Daydream Dinner Party

by Adam.

You know that question on The Guardian‘s Q&A page where they ask who you’d invite to your dream dinner party? Most people’s answers include all manner of celebrities and historical figures: Virginia Woolf, Hitler, Jesus… they go wild with it. Recently I’ve been daydreaming about a dinner party I’d like to throw, attended by all of my favourite podcast hosts.

I’d have Ira Glass at the head of the table, and Terry Gross next to him; Glynn Washington and Deborah Treisman down one side, and Roman Mars and Blake Eskin on the other. We’d probably have to separate Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich so that they don’t keep finishing each other’s sentences, and the same with Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot. Robert Ashley would be seated somewhere up my end of the table where I can nag him incessently about making new episodes of A Life Well Wasted; and hopefully the whole thing would be a good enough reason to reunite Adam Kempenaar and Matty Robinson, even if they could only join us for a movie after dinner… followed by multi-player Rock Band with Ryan, Vinny, Jeff, Brad and Patrick from Giant Bomb.

What do you think? Should I put this on Kickstarter?

  1. You need more ladies! Third Coast would happily help you balance this fine table of podcast champions!

You are, of course, absolutely correct – that was something I became more and more aware of as the guest list grew. Thanks for the point in the direction of Third Coast!
